These little scamps have a mega-cool product called Zinstall WinWin (you have to love the name) that will transfer all of your “stuff” from your old computer to your new machine. Well, help is at hand, because I just heard from the folks at Zinstall. “Where did I store that CD for Microsoft Visio?” you ask yourself, “and where on earth is the activation code for my video editing software?” you whimper. Moving your documents and photos over isn’t too bad - although this can still be wearing on the nerves - but it’s reinstalling all of your software applications that can bring you to your knees. In both of these cases, the problem is migrating your “stuff” from the old machine to the new one.
The second common scenario is that you simple can’t resist the urge for “More Power” That shabby Windows 7 machine you purchased only a few short years ago now seems painfully slow and clunky as compared to the spiffy new Windows 10 system you recently saw at Best Buy. Thus, even though you are reasonably happy with this older system, you still feel the need to migrate to a newer machine. Mayhap we’re talking about a Windows XP-based system, for example it may be that you are disconcerted by the fact that Microsoft stopped supporting this operating system in 2014, and you’ve been made aware that your anti-virus software no longer fully protects this now-unsupported platform. The first is that you have a machine with which you are perfectly happy, but you feel obliged to upgrade this little rascal due to circumstances beyond your control. There are two scenarios that come to mind. Happily, it appears that all this has changed, at least in the case of Windows-based machines, and - after all - isn’t this the only kind that really matters?* (*Well, it is to me, because –apart from my iPad - this is the only kind I’ve got.) I don’t know about you, but I find migrating from one computer to another to be a complete pain in the nether regions.
