Using a matte works perfectly for the clip on top, but it blocks out the clip underneath it. Unless im missing something, the only way to do this properly would be to have the clip in my timeline twice. I tried using a color matte, and that only worked for half the video. If there was a way I could lock the mask in place this would work perfectly. I have tried using masks, and that would work but I have to do some keyframing to track the people running and the mask follows the keyframes as well.

One part will follow the person on the left, and the other the person on the right.Įverywhere ive seen online has said either use masks or mattes. My goal is to cut the clip on a diagonal from the top right corner to the bottom left. One coming straight and to the left of the camera, the other is on the right half of the screen and running more of a zig zag pattern. There are two people running towards the camera at different angles.

The clip im working with is 16:9 but im putting it in a 9:16 sequence (its for Instagram Story). Im still fairly inexperience at the whole video editing thing so I apologize if I use any incorrect terms, but ill do my best to describe what im trying to accomplish.
